TIL: TrueBlue Redemption Bookings Can't Be Reacommodated on AA
You never stop learning. Redeemed points a few weeks ago for BTV-JFK-ORD in mid-June. Received email today to the effect that a schedule change had blown up my connection, but when I called up the record locator on Manage Trips the screen looked like it'd had a stroke; my BTV-JFK was now running one hour later, but no onward flight was suggested.
In agent chat I learned that starting in June JFK-ORD is covered after 600am by AA metal only, and TrueBlue redemption flights cannot be rebooked onto AA metal -- even when JetBlue causes the disruption, even when JetBlue markets a particular AA service, even when there's no alternative.
I was given no option but to cancel. And casting around on the website I see that effective Tuesday 6 June, it is impossible to travel on points BTV-ORD.
"You're All Set to Jet" ... unless we change our minds.

Wow. That really sucks and is really good to know. I've seen them re-accommodate people onto AA operated by Alaska Airlines (though no idea if that was paid or award), but if they can do a stretch like that then your request seems perfectly reasonable and valid.
Just for
and giggles, I'd file a DOT complaint. The worst thing that could happen is that they throw it out.

I did -- on the spot. Pointing out that intentionally-used terms like "Confirmation" and "You're All Set to Jet" are functionally fraudulent when the airline can renege on a whim. Obviously a customer is not promised a particular schedule or routing, but ... if it can summarily cancel a points booking with zero reaccommodation, it seems like deceptive business practice.
JetBlue should be required to say that TrueBlue books are conditional and subject to cancellation.
I'm certain nothing will come of it, but as they created a mighty inconvenience for me, I am happy to create a minor one for them.
In the meantime I have to find some use for my TrueBlue balance...

This sounds like a HUCA opportunity, they're selling revenue tickets on BTV-JFK-ORD and they definitely should be able to accommodate you with points, I'd call back and if denied ask for a supervisor before using the DOT complaint as a last ditch effort.

I had an AA award in Y on AA metal, and the flight was cancelled. B6 had available seats but only in Mint, and AA couldn't do anything. I thought B6 should upgrade a mosaic to make room. Had to fly next day instead. At least with AA they will fill the premium cabin, assuming elites exist.

B6 can accommodate same day on AA if the same cabin of service is available. I have no data points on AA being accommodated on B6. B6 does not do Mint upgrades unless it's an op-up (happened to me once SFO-JFK, Y was overbooked). B6 would let the flight go out full in the back and seats empty in the front.

I know mine is the opposite case of an AA award needing B6. I was contrasting the difference due to upgrade policies. At the time I thought accommodating someone from a cancelled flight could be treated like an oversell / op-up to solve the issue for a few pax, but I was wrong.
