Buying an extra seat for a musical instrument (cello)
We are relocating cross country, and we need to move my partner's cello in a climate-controlled fashion. JetBlue says we can potentially buy a seat for it; however other airlines (Southwest) have specified that cellos cannot be transported in a seat because they cannot be secured. This has left us concerned that we might buy the seat only to be forced to check it into the non-climate-controlled area of the hold. Has anyone bought a seat for their cello and transported it successfully on JetBlue? I figure if there was any group that could share stories it would be this one! (Yes, we are insuring the heck out of it.)

We have no direct experience, but this may help:

JetBlue indeed permits musical instruments in cabin seats. There are several caveats to this rule, so I will list some of the highlights:

Thanks everyone! I have read the website repeatedly and was hoping that someone had direct personal experience!

Ah, booking over the phone would be so much easier if anyone ever picked up...
