Miami Announcement Tomorrow

Perhaps not surprising given many of the network changes airlines have been making during the pandemic, but as Miami International Airport official Twitter tweeted (via a hint), announcement tomorrow.

MIA briefly showed up on JetBlue’s website last week with BOS, ORD, EWR and LAX (with Mint symbol) as the routes. Oddly no JFK. Guess we will know tomorrow.

This is somewhat unexpected... but this is the year to expect the unexpected. MIA would be pretty cool. I hope they also fly from JFK and LGA (not Mint of course).

From what I gather, it will be more than just MIA. At minimum EYW + south of the border.

Supposedly MIA will have service to BOS, EWR, ORD and... LAX (likely in Mint).

MIA-ORD... That will go over like a lead balloon. But MIA-LAX is a great move, as FLL-LAX has been one of the most successful Mint routes.

It almost makes me wonder if they are doing this in concert with AA, since they will be joining forces (to an extent) soon (ish).

They are definitely not engaging in blatantly illegal collusion. Airline can't do things in concert without immunity, which AA and B6 do not have (nor will the partnership give this to them).

MIA-LAX would complement the AA 777 services nicely (and pretty much alleviate the need for anyone to fly transcon on one of their miserable A321s or 737s ever again). It would be great to see MIA-SFO as well since AA no longer offers any acceptable premium product in that market anymore. Will they be using D/E along with AA?

Lol, that's an impressive list. I had someone IM me on a.net saying that I'd very pleased with this announcement. And the 2 things I've been calling for, RDU and SFO focus city both look to be happening to a degree.
