EMS seating charges increased for Mosaic?
B6 Mosaic member with a question on seating fees. Just booked a flight and was charged 2200 points for EMS. It was 700 points for same flight/seat last month. Cash prices were same at $55. Is this new? I guess I missed the notice?
|
I also noticed the same thing on a recent flight. There was no notice, as far as I can tell. Seems to be about a fixed 2cpp for an EMS as a Mosaic now.

Same here. The flat 1K points for a transcon seems to be a thing of the past. :(
|
Thanks, I appreciate the confirmations.

Jeez. $34 or 1500 points on BOS-RIC on a random date I checked. Last route I flew. I paid 400 points for the seat last time.
If this isn't temporary, it's going to make me seriously reconsider the value of Mosaic. This and no change fees were the major benefits I utilized on work trips. I didn't mind burning a portion of my points from a given flight for EMS — but at these values an EMS seat is almost double what the flight earns in the first place. |
That's a major devaluation of Mosaic. That was a huge factor for me pushing to maintain the status when I had it. 500 miles a leg upgrades were a great way to ensure a seat upfront if in a great hurry during business trips. Makes me wonder what they'll charge for a EMS points upgrade to EMS for TATL. 10000?

Jet Blue needs to realize the competition charges zero. This is a big shortcoming of Mosaic. They should start a published free upgrade program to EMS.

I am holding out a sliver of hope that they just botched something on the website — e.g., they're rolling out the ability for non-Mosaics to book EMS seats for points, and forgot to implement the Mosaic discount. |
While we don’t have any upcoming B6 flights at the moment, it might be interesting for someone who does to call the Mosaic line and see if they can book via phone for 1K points. This is something we’ve done in the past and the agents happily take care of it. We’d be curious to see if they will still do it for 1K or if they are quoting a higher rate via phone now as well?

Same here — reply came after I posted that. Apparently 2.26¢/point is "still a discount."
Thank you for contacting JetBlue. We appreciate the chance to respond to your inquiry. We have adjusted the rate for EMS seats using points. Just like airline fare, price in points has always been variable and we have recently updated the redemption ratio to be more in line with the value of an Even More Space Seat. This is still a discount from our cash price and it remains a benefit exclusive to Mosaic members to redeem points for an Even More Space seat. We appreciate you reaching out to us and look forward to welcoming you aboard JetBlue! |

I don't know why anyone would stay loyal to B6... We will see what happens to the mosaic program. I think it's too early to make any conclusions on how the mosaic program will look in a few months. I would be surprised if they make any big changes to mosaic before their partnership with AA is finalized. |
