Any hope for refund JFK-SEA?
Booked two M1NT seats to the west coast for a football game that’s no longer happening. Short of my flight being cancelled or moved by 3+ hours, any hope of a cash refund v B6 credit? I’m an AA guy, so not familiar w the B6 program thx

Did you book and purchase a refundable or a non-refundable fare? If the former, simply cancel and request a refund. If the latter, your ticket is not refundable. In that case, do not cancel. If B6 cancels or your flight timing is significantly changed, you will then be due a refund. Nothing to be gained by cancelling prior to the day of travel (slights are still cancelled for weather & mechanical!).

I would hold out for a schedule change or cancellation. You might as well wait until the day before (or morning of travel even -- maybe your plane will break down!). That way you can get a cash refund, or perhaps even a Travel Bank with a bonus credit if they're still doing that.

Travel credits are a last resort. No way of knowing whether B6 is the carrier of choice for your next trip (if there is such a trip) and thus, cash is always king.

As others note, presuming that it is non-refundable, no reason to cancel until just before the flight. Cancellation or significant schedule change, even for bad weather, and you are entitled to a full refund.

That didn't take long, my flight was cancelled and they have moved me to the same flight on the next day, obviously not going to accept that. Of course JetBlue aren't making it easy. Can't process a refund online and super long wait time to speak to someone.

As far as now reason to cancel early, isn’t it possible that the travel funds won’t be good for as long as they would be now due to special Covid-19 cancellation policies?

I did JFK SEA recently and there were several schedule changes before my trip; one change resulted in a 9-hour difference (the evening nonstop flight was cancelled) so as others have suggested, you should wait closer to your flight

I suppose if one wanted to extend that, one could potentially do so by booking a refundable placeholder flight with the travelbank funds before the waiver ends?
Thankfully OP got a cash refund so not a concern for them.
