24 hour cancellation unrecognized online

I booked a flight 23 hours ago on jetblue.com but when I went to cancel it once I realized I couldn't make it, jetblue.com insisted on charging a $75 cancellation fee and only refunding to Travel Bank instead of my card. Hit up Live Chat and Twitter to cancel. I hadn't run into this problem before with any US airline, is there something weird happening recently?

Booked Basic Blue if that's important, but I'm pretty sure their policy is 24 hour cancellation no matter what the fare.

24 hour cancellation is USDOT rule. I bet it's just a website quirk.

It's 24 hours. Maybe you went over the deadline and didn't realize it or as someone else suggested, it's a website glitch

When is the flight in question? Doesn’t JetBlue restrict the 24 hour rule to reservations not close in?

Flight was Jan 14 JFK-LAX, so it was well out in advance.

"Weird" would be the website working as designed.

I wonder if it has anything to do with a weather waiver? I have seen at least one case where the special rule they put into place to accommodate a weather waiver broke some other kind of zero-cost change.
