JB is leaving Hobby and starting service at IAH

On October 27th, 2019 JB will be starting service at IAH and ending service at Hobby. Very interesting. Will this affect anyone?

"Currently, JetBlue only operates flights from Houston to two destinations, and no additional route announcements to/from Houston accompanied the announced airport shift from Hobby to Bush Intercontinental.

Effective Oct. 27, the Houston JetBlue new flight schedules will be:
  • IAH – JFK Flight #1382 11:13am – 3:35pm
  • JFK – IAH Flight #1381 1pm – 4:10pm
  • IAH – BOS Flight #1932 4:55pm – 9:32pm
  • BOS – IAH Flight #1931 7:00am – 10:13am"

BOS-HOU has long been a loss leader for them. I would expect to see a boost in its performance when moved to IAH. Maybe they can at least add a second flight there to be more competitive.

The flights times seem pretty similar. It doesn't really matter to me as long as IAH has Pappasito's.

Seems to make sense to switch from HOU to IAH. But if it's only going to dedicate two flights into Houston, why not run 2x from BOS rather than 1x from BOS, 1x from JFK? While B6 times the BOS-IAH early for business passengers, the 1x style is more Spirit like approach for this kind of pair.

I completely agree about adding more flights, but it seems to be thatís the way JB runs a majority of their routes. They only go to BOS from the city and only have 1 flight a day. Very hard to attract business travelers and loyal customers with that type of route network.

Maybe because people flying from JFK donít want to go to BOS to fly to IAH??

A 1x out of each focus city/hub is still light frequency that it might not get a significant boost from the airport change. The direction with CLT was outright sacrifice of JFKCLT, a JFK business market where it's LGA in perimeter, in favor for increase frequencies at BOS.

Can you name 1 other city where they only fly from Boston and only had 1 flight and another airline has more than 1 daily flight?

In fact, how many cities do they fly once a day from Boston and another airlines has significantly better schedule.

JetBlue flies to JFK, MCO, FLL and LGB from SLC also. Read carefully.

Point is very few cities where they are actually only flying once a day and another airline flies more. And zero such cases where they only fly to Boston.

DFW. One flight a day on the weekends when other airlines have more.

I think thatís it. This is much more prevalent at JFK (ABQ, OAK seasonally, SRQ seasonally, etc.).
