Orl to Ewr Sept 23rd no seats sold

Why are the prices so high on Sunday, Sept 23rd from Orlando to Newark? Also it looks like no seats have been sold. Will the prices come down? Would rather not have to fly into JFK but the prices are outrageous.

Welcome to Flyertalk. First off, prices fluctuate all the time. If you don't like the price today, just wait until tomorrow. Not trying to be flip, but prices can change multiple times a day. Here are some tips to get a good deal.

As far as your specific question goes, I'm a little confused because I'm seeing lower prices to JFK/LGA as opposed to EWR. Here is a list of all one-way flights from MCO to JFK/LGA/EWR:

The early morning flight is a decent (but certainly not fantastic) deal. The other prices are meh. I would just set a Google Flights alert as per the linked blog post above and wait it out. Prices will definitely come down eventually, especially since that's a slow travel period. Have patience. Personally, I would hold out for fare sales that come along in mid-to-late August (they always do). Unless you see a sub-$99 price for the flight(s) you want, there is probably no need to pull the trigger sooner than about 30 days out or so. 21-60 days out is often where much of the pricing action is and where you can score a good deal. Good luck!

also, most of the times if you wait until 60 to 90 days out, prices will come down if there are enough seat available still.

Why fly JetBlue? Southwest's morning nonstop MCO-EWR on September 23 is currently selling for $98 -- two free checked bags included.

September in NYC is UN General Assembly season, one reason why B6 might be jacking the prices, although I agree it's odd that EWR is so much more $$ than JFK.

A320 vs 737 seat comfort.
free seat assignment, free high speed wifi, satellite tv. some people like myself don't care about free checked bags. And those Jetblue prices will come down.

I don't usually buy for Sept until the beginning of Aug so waiting is not an issue. I have never seen the price stay that high without any seats being sold coming into Newark. Leaving on a 6:00 AM flight is out as I would be picked up to go to the airport at 3:00 AM.

I fly Jetblue for 2 main reasons -
1. I fit in the seats comfortably some of the other airlines I do not
2. I have a Jetblue plus card

I live close to Newark so flying into another airport makes no sense and Southwest has a single non stop flight

Thanks for the information. I will just set my alerts and wait it out

You don't know that they haven't sold any tickets. The seat map only shows selected seats. For all you know, they could have sold out half the plane to a school group who will get their seats assigned at the gate.

I do agree that you should keep an eye on the flights you want though to see if they ever come down.
