Amazon points disappointment...
I mainly shop on Amazon so when I discovered this jet blue deal I made it a point to use it for every purchase...
I tracked my purchases by date and amount to see when and if they will appear on my trublue account. Started in Dec and the first few have appeared. So far... many many points are missing. From Dec 1st until Dec 21st I spent $1170. How many points did I earn? 664. Yup... 664. I could have gotten cash back from other sites so this really stings. So even if you take into account tax (which not all purchases had) I should have made out at lease 3200 points. |
You need to contact Jet Blue to give them a chance to look into it for you.

Got 1500 points as a token of good will... which didn't satisfy me because I just want what was fair to me. If it was a slight difference I would have been ok with it but so far they award me 0.44 per $ so that is false advertisement. I went over all their conditions and I have met them all. An agent from jetblue called me and I explained to her how I place orders to make sure I am doing so correctly. This is what I do - first I shop on amazon and add things to my cart. Then once I am ready to place the order I then remove all items from my cart via "save for later" option. Then I go to trublue and have it send me back to amazon. Then I simply add them all back to my cart and place the order. This way there is no room for mistakes. The agent from Jetblue told me that this is exactly what she does... and it works good. Well... I don't know where is the problem but so far they do not award anywhere near 3 points per $. What is also odd is that I was awarded numbers who completely don't make sense... For example, they gave me 20 points. So this should have been an item I paid $6.7 for about. I have no items that I bought for that price. Period. |
Note that Amazon affiliate marketing (which I'm fairly certain, though not 100% positive, this is part of) is complicated in how it allocates the purchase to the affiliate. If you saw a website/video and clicked on someone else's sponsored link to get to the product page on amazon, it doesn't matter if you do a 'put it in my cart, take it out again, click on the link' cycle - the original referrer will get credit, not Jetblue, if you buy it within 24 hours. In some cases, for high value items, it's not just 24 hours - it's up to 90 days. Google [amazon 24 hour affiliate cookie frequently asked questions] for the extensive discussions people have had trying to figure out how exactly this works.
If you want to make sure you're getting every penny - never click on a link that leads you to Amazon, and do not stay logged into amazon - only open it in a separate incognito window when you're ready to make a purchase, and make sure to get to the item by doing a search within Amazon, after clicking the jetblue link. An easier way to get cash back from Amazon is likely just to use one of the many credit cards (e.g, Chase Amazon Rewards Visa) that gives you a fixed percentage back, regardless of any affiliate marketing. |
I would give Jetblue a but more time to complete posting all points. I normally get points added to my account between 30-40 days from when items were shipped. Last year I did notice that points were not posting after 60 days so I emailed Jetblue and they replied back asking me to wait a bit longer. Within a few days the missing points for items trickled into my account (my guess they had to do something manually to get this sorted out). Do note that:
- Points should take 30 days to post but i've seen them take between 30-40 days - Points post to Jetblue with a date that correlates with shipping date in most cases and not purchase date. This may not be a big deal for items that ship the day you buy but if something take longer to ship the post date on Jetblue will reflect that. - Posted points on Jetblue are listed individually per item purchased. If you bought 10 items in one purchase you'll see 10 entries in Jetblue when points post - A little annoying for me since I keep track of points after they post but often times discounts received are listed at the bottom of the Amazon invoice and unless you noted it when you made the purchase its hard to remember what item received that discount... this is an issue because points received exclude discounts and taxes so when I look back at my purchases to match them with points received I have to do extra math to match things correct. Sounds like you keep track of items purchased in realtime then circle back and match that with points received so this is probably not an issue for you |
I think it's your "save for later" action that's causing the purchases to not track correctly. This is an Amazon issue, not a JetBlue one.
When I shop on amazon, I look for what I want, then open an incognito window, sign onto TrueBlue, then click through to Amazon and sign in there. Then I copy and paste the item titles from the regular browsing window into Amazon in the incognito window and add to my cart from there. I track all of my purchases and I have not had a single one fail to post. |
No Save for Later allowed. You must remove the items entirely and re-add them manually to your cart after being logged in at Jet Blue.

I'm missing many points. We use Amazon frequently. I contacted Jet Blue and was also instructed on how to click through to the portal. The video tutorial shows clicking the referral link first, then logging in to Jet Blue. I was logging into Jet Blue, then clicking the referral link. That does not appear to matter, though, because I did get points. However, I'm still missing a boatload of points. I'd like to figure out why. Maybe it's because the items were in the wish list 24 hours prior to logging in via Jet Blue. |

I've given up on the Amazon-Jetblue promotion. Quite simply, the points hardly ever post. I've spent close to $1,500 on Amazon over the past 6 months and have followed the directions to a T. Sometimes the points post, most often they do not.

I am with you. Mileageaddict
I have gotten almost nothing from the thousands spent on Amazon. I have tried a different method so we will see in 30 days but I am highly highly doubtful... also I do not like this method. BTW.... I have been using amazon cashback on befrugal for a while and it almost always works. This is just bs with jeblue IMO |
I don't know what to tell you. I haven't and still haven't ever had a transaction fail to post. I place multiple orders a week, and I keep track of every one, with a total, expected number of points, and an expected posting date 30 days from the shipping date.
Could it be an element blocker or some other extension on your browser (or even cookie policy) that could be causing the failed tracking of your purchases? |
i think my spending have also posted.

Could it be an element blocker or some other extension on your browser (or even cookie policy) that could be causing the failed tracking of your purchases? Maybe you can elaborate on the process you take to do that? How you go about shopping? I use Chrome, no ad block extensions, I do have other extensions but non are related to blocking. Only one related to amazon which needs to be clicked to be activated is the camelizer.... Also, if you just first log into trublue then to amaozn then buy - that is a way I am aware of but not really into as I usually add items to my cart before finally placing order as sometimes I have an items who is an add on and need ot wait to reach the 25 for prime ship free. |
Sure! This is what I do:
I use Google Chrome. I first shop for whatever I'm looking for. One item in each tab if I'm looking for multiple items. Then, I open an incognito window (which does not load any extension at all) and go to JetBlue, sign on, and then click through to Amazon where I sign on there as well. The visit is tracked via the clickthrough link, and maybe a cookie. The email addresses do not have to match, as mine do not. I then tab back to the regular Chrome browsing session, and copy and paste the exact item title of the item I want, and paste in the Amazon search box on the incognito window. This will make it so that only the item you want will appear in the search results. I click the item, and add it to my cart. Repeat for any subsequent items. This part is optional: I go to checkout, and add each item's prices to a spreadsheet, date of the order, expected number of points, and blank columns for ship date and expected posting dates. I place the order, and that's it. I open the spreadsheet every now and then to update the ship dates, which when I add 30 days to it, gives me the expected points posting date. This way, if something does fail to post, I can give JetBlue this information (they probably have no way of looking it up though) and request the missing points. I haven't had to request missing points yet, because everything had posted on time for me. (knock on wood) |
