Mosaic Segments
Hi-
I'm new on flyertalk and just recently started thinking about maximizing my airline traveling experiences. Okay, my question is about mosaic. I qualified for mosaic for 2015 (just barely) and it's extremely helpful for me to be able to change flights without any fees and I would really like to re-qualify for 2016. This year will probably be like last year and I'll just barely make the 30 segment requirement and hopefully enough base points. My question is if there are any tips or tricks about obtaining Mosaic easier. One thing I was wondering is that I have a trip from South Florida to Chicago this summer for a conference and was thinking about booking 4 separate 1-way tickets in and out of JFK. Would that count as 4 segments? Even if I don't stay over? I think I read online here that if close someone might take a long flight and turn around and come back, but that seems like a lot of time on a plane. Maybe I could do one of those new mint seats or something late this year if needed. Thank you! Joe |

Joe Since you are in Florida, maybe keep your eye out for a few cheap runs to JFK/LGA/BOS, to run up your segments. |
Depending on where and when you're flying, I've found the 15K points threshold for Mosaic comes much faster than actually doing 30 segments and 12K points. Since you're in S Florida and would prefer not to do 'turns' on Transcons to boost earnings, then I would book a refundable fare. Refundable fares from S Florida should get you to Mosaic pretty quickly.
Absent status matches, which B6 hasn't offered in a long time, to qualify for Mosaic you need to spend the $$$. There isn't an easy way around it; just like DL's and UA's revised programs. Agree on the change fees waiver though; that is by far the best 'perk'. Dedicated customer service line is great too. |
