Eastbound breakfast SFO - JFK
January 2020

Open PDB offered during boarding. Just went with seltzer.

Maple-glazed bacon was offered as a supplement with any three Delish Dishes choices. I refrained.

The usual Milk Bar cookie was offered pre-arrival, but I skipped it again this time. I really wish B6 would offer something else ... so sick of that cookie.

Fresh Fruit - citrus, blackberry, strawberry. Obviously, it's 95% citrus, but at least they removed the seeds, which was most appreciated.

Smoked Salmon Salad - English cucumber, cherry tomato, pumpernickel. The dollop was salmon salad was unremarkable, but OK. The bread was completely stale.

Eggplant Shakshuka - poached egg, feta, herbs. Please don't bother serving a poached egg if the yolk is going to be hard-cooked. :-(

My 3/5 Delish Dishes: Pan-seared Seabass, Spicy Brick Chicken and Green Goddess Salad. (I failed to photo the Marcona Almonds served once we were up in the air. OK, but almost zero salt and, of course, room temp.

Pan-seared Seabass: parmesan risotto, broccolini, carrot-chardonnay sauce. Quite the dichotomy - the bass was top 10 in-the-air US carrier fish; the risotto and the sauce were awful.

Spicy Brick Chicken: collard greens, horseradish mash, onion sauce. Overall thumbs up.

Green Goddess Salad: baby greens, asparagus, green beans, English peas, cucumber, avocado, feta. OK, but I wish they'd have skipped the baby greens b/c they just turned to sludge with the dressing. If they'd have stuck to more sturdy veg this would have worked fine.

I may be in the minority, but I don't care for sweetened/candied bacon. I always wished they could just have normal food.

Just a FYI, the crackers were placed inside the ham and cheese casserole dish, but I put them on the tray for better pictures.
However I think the crackers were loaded separately and the F/A just placed them on the ham & cheese casserole, when they were served, or else the moisture from the ham and cheese will make the crackers soggy.

I see, that makes sense about the crackers. Calling this a "charcuterie" plate is still a stretch.

PS. JetBlue... you really need to do something with the service after the COVID-19 crisis is over. Many of these F/As should not be serving the Mint cabin.

There has been lots of talk about this among crewmembers. My last three trips in Mint were average at best (okay, the last one was good, but the other two were unremarkable). I could go onto a tirade about how the program is set up and they scared off the originals that made Mint the best thing since Pan Am... but that's not for this thread. I have a feeling I know who your FA was (I could name several), and you are not alone in your sentiments.

Mint service modifications for the corona virus:
  • Select EatUp Cafe items will be served instead of traditional meal service
  • Core beer and wine will be available
  • No citrus garnishes or real milk/OJ
  • Core earbuds instead of Grado headsets
  • Milk Bar cookie replaces snack basket service
  • No glassware (will serve in plastic cups)
  • No menus/welcome note
Overall I think this is being handled very well, all things considered. I would have preferred a single-tray traditional meal but this is probably a safer bet (not to mention cheaper).

Thought I would share my experience on Mint overall. No menús available on this flight and going forward for the near future due to Covid-19. Select items were available from the Eatup Cafe. I had cheese plate, turkey sandwich, and milk cookies. I found those items tasty; especially the cookies 😋.

Everything is served in one tray - welcome taste of prepackaged nuts, your three choices (all covered), any garnishes for the meal, sweet bite (ice cream is the only choice), and beverage.
Eat fast as the ice cream will be melting away. Maybe catering needs to freeze it at a lower temp to help with this?
