Finally!!!

JetBlue is going to be announced service to Worcester, MA (ORH).

Let wait for real official release by tomorrow morning.

I think they will start nonstop ORH-MCO/FLL.

if folks here ever have any business to do to in central mass (or, as people from boston call it, "western mass"), worcester airport is a real treat. They have a great billboard outside that says something along the lines of:

"Worcester Airport: we have delays too! Five minutes to park, three minutes to get through security".

It really is that quick though. Great experience.

The only thing Worcester has against it is location. It's not conveniently located - not near a highway.

I give it a year. I hope I'm wrong, but it's failed every other time they've tried to get this going.

Not to mention it might be a bit too thrilling trying to take off and land there if they follow through and close the tower as it has been listed on the rosters of towers getting shuttered by the Gvmt.

I'll be surprised if this succeeds. Worcester just doesn't have a good track record. I think being just over an hour from three different airports doesn't help.

Orlando it is

I live in Worcester and I wish I could attend the event today. ORH is now listed on jetblue.com booking engine. I was hoping for JFK so i can easily connect to UA PS service without having to take greyhound.

I t looks to be MCO as i get an error stating

"If this is a new JetBlue city, service may begin at a future date. To see our new city start dates, click here"

I dont get that message for JFK

*EDIT*\

I checked Expertflyer and there is a $49++ fare filed for ORH-MCO beginning 11/7

I'd expect to see FLL, too, given this:

Means absolutely nothing. There will still be ATC control of the field.

What Jetblue needs is the Worcester to get behind it and make
whatever upgrades is necessary. They will be the only commercial
airline there after over a year of no one. Hopefully the city actually
follows through and makes improvements otherwise it won't last long.

Seems like the only major regional airport that jetblue is missing now
in the northeast is ISP on Long Island. I'm guessing they won't go
there anytime soon since that is a southwest dominated airport.

From a local (Boston) news source it is MCO and FLL.

I live (depending on the traffic) 15-20 minutes from Worcester. ORH is in a terrible location. I've gone from my house to ORH, it feels like it took an hour to drive there on the backroads. If Route 9 was widened and one special road from the Mass Pike and/or 290 was brought towards the airport, it would bring more customers.

Looking at a trip departing ORH-FLL on 12/26/13 going back 12/31/13 would cost over $650. BOS-FLL on those dates would be $605.

The facilities will need upgrading to make customers want to fly out of ORH instead of BOS.

I give it from November to April unless something drastic changes.

In the late 80's, early 90's, ORH was a popular little airport for a bunch of airlines. US, PI, NY, and I think NW all served. The old terminal had two ground level jetways. Fun place to fly from.

Hope this works out.
