points vs dollars

points vs dollars
Usually the points for a flight are consistent with the price of the flight. So a $110 flight will always be 7300pts, etc (minus any point promotions)
Today I went to book flights and it seems only to be routes to/from JFK but I am seeing flights that are dollar wise 200 but points only 5400, 6100 or 7100 or the standard 14,400 depending on time of day.
Is there some sort of unannounced point sale going on(i know there was one last week)?
This is for flights this month.
I booked and it confirmed it.

I did book : ) as of this morning flight showing in dollars for $191 or 5400 pts and another flight on a different day for $251 and only 5400 pts. Normally points would be 22,900.
