travel as unaccompanied mirror on jetblue
I am planning to send my kid to camp out of state...I have a few questions..
The camp is willing to pick the kid up from the terminal is my kid is traveling as unaccompanied minor, otherwise it will be from the baggage claim area. Is it possible for them to pick my kid from the terminal? (two years ago, when I planned to send my kid to Seaworld, they told me they could not pick my kid up from the terminal because they were not allowed to pass security, I decided to fly with my kid)
I called Jetblue to find out the specifics, the person seemed to be unsure of herself.. She just not able to let me know how the whole process works, but answered (quite unsure) when I asked each portion of the questions.
She said I "might" be able to get a gate pass and walk my kid to the terminal.. She said I should be able to get a gate pass when I get the boarding pass, and if I cannot get the gate pass, someone will come out to walk my kid to the terminal...
I asked her whether someone will walk my kid to the plane, she said yes. then I asked whether my kid should walk out of the plane by herself when it is landed, and after asking her in 3 different ways, she finally said someone would walk over to my kid and walk her out of the plane....
Then I asked whether someone would stay with her until she was picked up, she said they are not babysitting service hence the person has to be on-time.. But she didn't really answer what would happen if the other party is not ontime...
I am hoping to hear from anyone who had experience in sending kids to fly as an unaccompanied minor
BTW, my kid is 12

Hi--
When you drop your kid off, you'll get a gate pass to take him/her to the gate, and you can stay there until the plane leaves. Note that you'll need to provide the name and contact info of the person doing the pickup.
On arrival, at most airports, the camp staff can get a gate pass to go to the gate. An inflight crewmember will bring the child off the plane and meet the camp person in the terminal.

Gate passes can be obtained at both the departure and arrival airport. Ticket agents usually are eager to had out gate passes as that means the UM is under the supervision of an adult other than Jetblue and it doesn't take an agent away from their duties as they escort the UM from the counter to the gate and vice-versa.
At the gate the UM is handed off to a gate agent to departure than then escorted down the jetbridge to the aircraft. The UM is then signed for by one of our flight attendants where it is now our responsibility to take care of the UM. When we land the gate agent signs the paperwork and then escorts the UM to the gate or the front lobby, where ever the arrival party is meeting the UM. Full name and address of the person picking up the UM is required upon arrival or we won't release the UM.
