Transfering internationaly at FLL
Hi,
I plan to travel from Nassau to Newark in August and I'm thinking about using JetBlue for this travel.. their system offers me flight via FLL with only 25 minutes transfer time.. so I wonder - how big is our chance to make it? And what about baggage? When travelling from Europe to US, you have to pick-up you baggage at first US airport and check it in again, I believe that we couldn't make this in 25 minutes - so are rules different for Bahamas? Thanks for your help. |
no need to worry. The airport in Nassau has a pre-clearance station. This means U.S. Customs and Immigration check is done there instead of at FLL. So once you arrive in FLL, it is treated as a domestic flight and you simply just go to your next flight to Newark. Your baggage will be transferred automatically
See here for more general info about pre-clearance. |
It won't be a problem with immigration/customs but only 25 minutes is still pretty tight. Odds are you'll make it but that could get ugly.

Thanks. If I miss it, they just transfer me to next JetBlue flight? It should be OK too, as this flight is arriving at EWR at 12:09 (next flight at 17:41) and my onward connection to London departs at 23:10.. I just wonder what happens if next flight will be full...
