"Go [Big]" bonus

Hi,

Does anyone know how long it takes for the 1st "Go Long" bonus to post? Do I have to wait the full year, or will the 500 point bonus post as soon as I hit the 3000 travel point plateau?

Thanks.

That's the Go Big bonus, not Go Long.

When I got it recently the bonus posted as part of the activity for the qualifying flight:
Code:
10/07/10 New York(JFK) to Los Angeles(LAX)
	Base points 494
	Online / promotion bonus 494
	Go Big bonus 500
	LAX triple points 989 +2,477
If yours didn't then you're probably going to need to track down the spend and make sure you did the math correct.

Am I correct in understanding that Go Big Bonuses are only tendered for points earned by travel? American Express points don't lead to Go Big? I ask because I didn't get a Go Big Bonus when I hit 20,000 points I didn't get a Go Big Bonus but I got there primarily by B6 AX points.

Correct. They are accrued based on base points (the initial 3x dollars spent, not counting the online purchase bonus) and register for every $500 in spend.

Hmm, if the online bonus doesn't count, I would be short of 3000. However I am over $500 in spend. Maybe I'll just send an email.

I just looked at my account history. Looking at the amounts posted just for the base flight - not online/promotion bonus - the numbers were:
297
30
30
281
342
90
494

It was the 494 entry that put me over 1,500 base points earnt and that's where the 500 bonus for Go Big kicked in. It shouldn't be too hard to similarly audit your account, keeping in mind the 12 month window, and figure out where you are. Remember that the points are credited on the base fare, not taxes, so if you have an international flight or two you're going to miss out on $60-120 per trip that were tax.

I also noticed that my last two flights have me at 2,693 total base points. That means my next $109 base fare is worth an extra 1,000 bonus points.
