Wow! I didn't see it coming! So unbelievable!!! I cannot not believe it where the slots come from?

Is all the other service at EWR staying in tact? They are just getting four additional slots? I wonder if the additional slots has anything to do with Continental and United tying the knot?

Here's what I bet happened. Jetblue has about 15 slot pairs at the moment, using them to fly to Florida. 5 daily to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, double daily to Fort Myers and West Palm Beach and once daily to Tampa. Since those are mostly snowbird routes, they usually drop some of their summer flights. Maybe down to three apiece to FLL/MCO and maybe cut one of the RSW/PBI flights. Thus, they freed up some slots for Boston service.
OR Jetblue moved some of their Florida service to off peak times, freeing up the slots for Boston. Porter did this, allowing them to add another three daily flights to Toronto, half of their eleven leave before noon. |

BOS-EWR was SOOOOO expensive, now prices will drop to normal BOS-NYC levels.
|
This is great news.
Not only will this bring down BOS-EWR fares, but it makes it possible for those in NJ (esp. those coming from the south) to get to the west coast via B6. e.g. EWR-BOS-SEA. |
