Jetblue flinches on BWI-BOS

Well it had to happen eventually, looks like they are dropping 2 r/t's on this HUGE route in the fall, now down to 3x a day.

The route is better suited for Southwest with it's large BWI operation. For
B6, it's a point to point route only.

B6 puts a lot of traffic through BOS as well (largest carrier at the airport) though I'm not sure much of it would be connecting onward to BWI.

Glad that it is still enough on the schedule that I can get to fly it during AYCJ.

I noticed this too but I think it's just for the fall. The spring schedule shows 4-5 daily flights. Interestingly enough, I bet B6 is profitable at least during the high season on this route as I recall seeing that they have something like a 75% load factor, about break even or slightly profitable. It's a good thing they've got the E190's for these types of routes.

What dates are you looking at? Just looking at Friday's, there are 5x/day through the middle of November, then it seems to vary 3x/4x/5x until it's back to 5x in January.

I believe it was very slow during in fall/winter seasonally and it will returns back to normal routine. Because it was so tough competitive against WN. That's why WN has already exists service BOS-BWI is always too much competitive against another carriers.

to me the most obvious reason for this is that they start BOS-DCA this fall. They're taking over AA's slots out of DCA.

Hardly what I'd call flinching.... It's a step up in the BOS-WAS market.

The drop is for the winter season. Loads and Yields out of BWI are still impressing the company.

That isn't hard. Every time I look for flights on WN, they cost as much or more than Jet Blue.

I would love to see BWI-JFK to allow connections to the entire system!

I think they would fill these flights not just with B6 connections, but people connecting to trans-atlantic or other international destinations. Getting to JFK is near impossible from here.

Well, for international connections, you can connect to other carriers in ATL, BOS, ORD, IAH, LAX, CLT, PHL, and DFW (ect, etc... when using B6, WN, or another carrier with an international route/alliance). Not to mention that you could just drive down to IAH, also.
