No and no. They do not announce future dates but they send around an email blast a day or two before each block of dates goes on sale. So it is never a total surprise...

Is this also the case for using points? Isn't it unlikely the price in points will go down after initial release?

Jet Blue's reward redemption levels are based on the published base fare of the flights you select at the time of booking. So the number of points needed will follow the fares.

If you are booking for a high demand time period (Christmas-New Year's holiday, for example), the fares are not likely to go down from where they start out, and booking immediately would be desirable. For lower demand time periods, I agree that waiting for a fare sale is typically a good strategy. Since Jet Blue does not have black-out dates and the reward redemption levels follow the fares, this works equally as well for award travel.

Does anyone know what time Sunday the schedule is extended? Is it 12:01AM eastern?

Thanks!

Just to confirm, and not to be a jerk, you mean noon, right? (Strictly, "pm" means "after noon".)

BeantownFlyer Apr 4, 2014 9:02 am

Just repeating what their e-mail says. However I read it as noon as that is the more common (although technically incorrect) use of 12pm (and the reason your insurance policy begins and ends at 12:01am to avoid this confusion).
