I'm seriously annoyed. I they had only extended the schedule another 5-6 days, I could've booked a flight over Presidents Day weekend.

They generally release higher fares initially anyways. Not worth getting upset about IMO.

I am upset, I need to book for February 20! Do you have any guestimation on how long we will all have to wait? A week, two weeks, even a month? Sorry to be so naive, I've never seen an airline only open up certain days.

Why are you upset about it? There is still plenty of time between now and then to take care of it. Take a deep breath and relax.

Every airline only opens up certain days. For some it is 330 days out. For others it is to a certain point in time. Both systems work and, in nearly every case, none of the airlines put the cheapest seats on sale on day one. Buying as soon as they are released probably isn't a good plan anyways.

Typically how long after they initially release fares do the lower fares get released?

If you look at the second post in the thread you will see that last year that occurred in July. If you go through the thread you will also see that the dates have varied from year to year.

Do they announce future release dates for extending the schedule, or is it always a surprise?
