Evening departures to SFO and LAX are both delayed 2+ hours (I assume the turn-around is the red-eye). Weather-related?

Yup, it's weather. Wind in NYC was very heavy, and the runway rehabilitation at JFK meant that the airport was operating on a single runway for a while. Not fun... JB was able to avoid cancellations I believe, which is pretty impressive.

It was the winds. They actually had a ground hold at one point because of volume back-ups in the air with the volume. At noon the folks in Ops had an idea that this was coming but they had to wait until it actually started to get bad before they knew just how long the delays would be.
