Rebooking Question

It looks like I'm going to miss the last flight out of LGB to SFO tonight. There are later flights out of LGB going to both OAK and SJC. What are the odds that the gate agent will let me fly standby on one of those flights?

I'm going by memory here, but I believe that free standby is only available for flights between the exact same city pairs. However, you should be able to use the same-day confirm program for $40, and IIRC that will allow you to change between airports that are co-terminals.
