Gotanda! Gotanda! Shin-BASHI!

This video is so old it's got hair on it, but apparently I managed to miss it during its boom days back around 2005, and now that I've seen it I won't be able to keep a straight face the next time I ride the Yamanote Line :D

It's apparently the 2ch cats set to a recording of the live performance by the Ramens (ラーメンズ), but try as I might I haven't been able to scrouge up an actual video. Sigh.

And just out of curiosity, for any non-Japanese speakers out there, is that still funny if you don't speak the language? Obviously you'll miss some of the gags, but most of the comedy seems to be in timing and intonation. Here's an English translation if you're curious...

I can't answer for the complete non-Japanese speakers. Mine is pretty bad but I still got most of it. That said, I LMAO!

GOTANDA! GOTANDA! SHIMBASH!!! But also oDON, uDEN! Etc, etc, etc!

Thanks for posting. I needed a giggle after the day I just had.

Here's a different live version of that Rahmens sketch:

However, my favorite by a long shot is the one where they play Americans:

shibboleth

Sad to say I didn't find it funny at all. Not the first time. Not this time.
Reminds me of when my friends all thought that Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer were the most hilarious thing on TV and I tried and tried to get the joke but just had to give up in the end.

I think it's a deep rooted thing, like being able to make a tube with your tongue or speak the right dialect of a "click" language. You got it or you ain't.

I ain't.

OTOH, I've heard you in Rappungi and you click like a native. ^

Aside from the Yamanote-sen eki, I understood maybe 1/3 of it.

And it was hella funny!! BEDDO! DOUBLE BEDDO! TA-KA-DA-NO-BA-BA! :p

A nice touch was that the instructor spoke kanji, hiragana and katakana when appropriate and the class, for the most part spoke katakana. Like real Japanese language classes...

SHIN-BASH!
