Ordering novels oversea
Greetings,
Does anyone know of a good website to order japanese novels or magazines with low shipping rate to oversea (like US)? I don't mind slow shipping. Sometimes I just want to pick up a novel that is only 520 yen (included tax) but Kinokuniya US wants $8.50 (before tax). Thanks |
Indeed I do.

Amazon was relatively inexpensive when they offered DHL World Mail shipping option. That must have been 2-3 years ago. It was around 1300 yen per shipment plus 300 yen per item. The packages would be delivered in about 3-5 days instead of EMS's 2-3 days. Now they only offer EMS at the rate mjm listed above.
Air Mail and SAL shipping are much less expensive, but online stores avoid them because they don't offer delivery confirmation. Without confirmation, some buyers can easily repudiate the receipt of the package and request a refund with the vendors or charge back through their credit cards. |
I was looking for a cheap shipping option too. I asked my friend who lived there for a few years and then taught Japanese in the USA when she moved back. She used Sasuga for all her teaching materials and said that they were nice and that she never had problems. I just checked by putting 1 item in a cart and they wanted $5 for US Priority Mail. $40+ orders have free US Media Mail.
http://www.sasugabooks.com/ I have not used them, but maybe they will have what you need. BillJ |
