Yes, the Azabu Juban is a favorite of many, and it is always booked. Actually, they are all always booked, it seems to be a great business.

I think Roppongi Central is the cheapest of the Roppongi options--I just got back from 4 weeks there, and it was totally fine. And the neighborhood certainly is lively, especially when you're heading off to work at 7am....

(Personally, I would have preferred Azabu Juban for location, but it wasn't available.)

Remember that you're competing against Japanese men here -- if you can refrain from pinching butts, sticking cameras under skirts and loudly demanding beer, you're already a cultured gentleman. That said, the initiative is very much on the guy's side in Japan, you're going to have a long and lonely wait if you're expecting to get hit on.

Unless you are ready to go with a rental in Roppongi. There's something for everyone there.

Unless you're really cute & modest like me. Then you can just go anywhere and the girls hit on you. Roppongi, Shinjuku, Shimo-Kita, Kyoto, Nagasaki, Miyajima...Of course, it helps if you're confident & funny.

BUT:

Here's the real deal. I'd totally recommend picking up a copy of metropolis, they're everywhere. If you haven't seen one yet, I'm surprised. There's also another English magazine that comes out weekly - Metropolis is big, the other one is small. There's a third one that's about a 4x4 inch square. Just look around, especially in Roppongi.

Speaking of which, you know you're right around Sophia University? I'm not sure how old you are (feel free to tell us, it may help) but if you're in the age range, you can try to meet people around the campus. I know Yotsuya isn't happening much - actually, I worked in that building with the clock on it across the street from you (8-20 Nibancho).

If you need to be in a party area, the Roppongi/Azabu locations are tops though. And you should be able to survive a month there. Seriously, though, a lot of people meet by just going out - I met tons of other foreigners, many resident, hanging out at Hobgoblin, Hub (under Roppongi Starbucks), and Geronimo's in Roppongi.

Let me update by saying since that experience I've been to various parts of Japan, including Tokyo again and have been nothing but blown away. From the kindness and open arms of the Japanese people, to the land, sites and culture...I love Japan and can't wait for my next trip there soon!

In general, I'm a cynical mofo, but this time I'm genuinely happy to hear that this is the case.

Hey, I'm sorry! I tried to buy everyone a drink that night, but I just ran out of money.

I did the Roppongi Hub often with classmates (I liked the atmosphere) and when I was out with Dean Page (who seemed to know everyone in Tokyo) I'd go to Geronimo's. I spent a lot of time at 7F hookah bar (Bar Sheesha). There are a number of Salsa bars, and another place I liked was called Ricardo's (I think) - it's owned by a half-Japanese, half-Brazilian guy named, guess what, Ricardo. He's pretty chill, and plenty of people come in there all the time (it's back towards GasPanic, towards the little park. you can't miss it, it's bright green & says "Ricardo's).

PS: If you're a celebrity or pretending to be one, don't forget to go to the Lex. Or the NewLex. Whatever it's called today.

Also, I did a few nights & events at SuperDeluxe. It's a multi-purpose place, doing everything from club nights to movies to sake tastings to traditional performances.

I swear, I did other things besides going clubbing and to bars! I SWEAR.

its so easy

every girl in tokyo i met or almost every woman is complaining that they cant find a decent man.

3/10 japanese woman would try to date a foreigner if he can speak a bit japanese.

its really not difficult , some of my friends have married the girls i have introduced to them.

i think the japanese girl are very easy , they are shy, but they will go to your appartment the first or second night and you can do well what ever you want.

so its not very prude here, even you might think that japanese girls and woman are prude... of course its easier to find someone in BKK but if you have Money, good taste for clothes, and are not a total idiot than go to places you were told here and you will find someone.

i recommend clubs like Lexington Queen (you need to be very drunk)
Muse, Feria etc. there are a lot people and in Feria there are a lot girls at the bar.

here is one tip, and this works in every country of the world .
when i am drunk i dont want to wait at the bar, usually i buy bottles , but in tokyo it doesnt make sense as the drinks are cheap.
so you go to the counter cut into the line of waiting girls, order a drink, turn your head to the girl next to you (or all girls) and tell them, sorry i cut into the line, let me buy you a drink .

you buy the drinks, all girls expect you to hit on them, you just pay, take your drink dont look at them and leave!

you know its the same .... the woman are doing with us ( THE RULES) if you ignore them, something in them awakes,,, HOW CAN he buy me a DRINK and ignore me... this will make you interesting....

next time you walk back and the same girl is standing there, she will say thank you , just buy her a nice drink and start chatting with her.

btw. how old are you ? of course it depends on your age, clubs might not be too good if you are 40-50 already.

Yeah, I did notice that! So just walk around campus and randomly hit on women?? I'm always scared I'll get escorted out of there.... But I may try that!! Not too toot anything, but I'm actually 29, but look about 24. And it's a 2 min walk from my building. Turns out Roppongi is also sold out, so I may be staying here afterall

I walked into Geronomo's last week and just saw nothing a bunch of men so left... At TGIF's I noticed a lot more groups of women -- ended up going clubbing with a few on Sunday! Darn fun night.. I'll have to hit the other places....

Why are you cynical about that statement? Almost everyone's told me the same thing... Is there something I should know
