Security question at NRT

Going through NRT this week end on way to Shanghai. As we will have carry ons only is the security line similar to US regarding small liquid containers in clear bag? In other words do you take them out of your carry on bag, while proceeding through? Thanks much.

I assume you mean NRT; but yeah, if you show the quart bag right away, they don't seem to pay attention to anything else..

Yes, almost as bad as in the U.S.

Yes, transiting through Narita NRT does involve what many flyers call merely a security check. This security check, however, entails the 'no liquid carry on' rules as well as the shoe removal routine, passport and ID checks also.

Please do not think that NRT is simply a walk-thorugh; it does take about 10 minutes. Apparently Washington has leaned on Tokyo in this 'security' regard.

This is no joke about Washington leaning on them. 2 weeks ago, I was bringing back a set of silverware to Korea. TSA let me carry on the butterknives saying that they are not sharp or serated. No way in Tokyo. I complained that TSA let me carry it on--obviously since I had them there. She then complained that it is the US that insists that I cannot carry them on in Tokyo!

Welcome to Flyertalk. This is a question that deals solely with the security at NRT's airport, so I'm going to move it to the Japan forum.
