Johnny Jet does Kyoto
In case you missed it, someone called Johnny Jet who apparently is a travel writer is currently in Kyoto. He was in Turin a few weeks ago. Busy guy!

"I had never visited Kyoto, but I felt like I had because of the countless pictures and scenes from movies (most notably Lost in Translation)" Errr.. I thought Scarlett Johansson's character's visit to Kyoto lasted all of two minutes - the film is resolutely based in Tokyo. |
Man, that's one busy schedule. I'd go nuts at that speed. I like his quote when talking about the geisha and the maiko he saw at a banquet:
"They were dressed exactly as they were described in the book. Their exposed skin was painted white (except for a small section of their neck); their hair and makeup were perfect, and they wore beautiful kimonos." At least they weren't dressed like they were in the movie. A number of them show up dressed for their own funeral. |

My dear jetting Johnny, although Kyoto restaurants don't make a fuss about themselves, Nakadachiuri and surrounding alleys have several of them right next to the Brighton. Please be more daring next time and just tuck on those sliding doors.
