So I am working right next to Tokyo Station.

EDITED -- Oh, now I seem to recall that you mentioned you are staying at the Palace Hotel (Or maybe I have you confused with another person?). Well, that's very close to the Ohtemachi Citibank. Go out of the hotel - turn right on Eitai Dori, so that you are walking away from the Imperial Palace gate. When you get to the intersection of Eitai Dori and Hibiya Dori, look across to the opposide side of Eitai Dori. You will see an arched entrance to the subway and the Citibank is in the building right next to it. It must be about 3 minutes walk from the Palace Hotel. |
If there's a citibank near you (although I can't tell you which one is closer), I'd say go for it. You could also look for a post office (look for a T with a line above it, and it's yubinkyoku, right?) as most have ATMs that accept foreign ATM cards. Although you can only get 10,000 yen bills from them (at least I don't ever remember having a problem...).

Yup!
I am at the Palace hotel until I move to the Four Seasons YEAH YEAH YEAH. sorry. I will ask then the concierge tonight. Thanks. Ya guys are amazing. btw this area, Marunouchi, seems to be crazy expensive |
Marunouchi is THE office district of Tokyo where many of the big companies have headquarters, so prices are geared to well to do salary men/ managers and the infamous Marunouchi OL (Office Ladies)... Of course Tokyo is expensive, but there are bargains to be found in the lunch specials and cheap souvenirs at the 100 yen shops. I'm on the West side of town, so I tend to frequent the Shibuya and Omote-Sando Citibanks.

Lunch in the Yaesu side seems to be around 700-1000. Lunch around Ginza is a little bit more...maybe 1300. Not so bad I guess.
Ok. I admit this is the hormones talking: Why are the Marunouchi OL's so famous? Sigh. This stinks. I haven't been able to go out at all except to grab cheap iyazaka (sp?) dinners |

From hotel desk, walk out past fitness center in adjoining building. Cross Street. Make a right. At next intersection, turn left. There you are. So nice. |

yeah mostly dark suits.
in my office, there are only a couple of *snap the head* and those are the admins for the bigwigs. so assuming I get some time off, where to for some *ummm* pleasant views. Anyone in Tokyo up for mid week excursions? |
I'll have to confirm with my Japanese colleagues why Marunouchi OL are reknowned. Had mentioned to a colleague that my GF is working there and he just smiled knowingly and said, "Ahso Marunouchi OL." So I have no clue if he meant anything by that or not. Mysterious Japanese smiles.
For, ahem, sightseeing I find Omote-Sando area quite nice with lots of well dressed attractive ladies. For something different, Shibuya has all those orange tanned and blonde haired yamamba girls and Harajuku on the weekends is known by all I would assume. |
Or the 32nd floor of the Marunouchi Bldg. in front of Tokyo Station.
P.S. Chichow, how are thinsg vis a vis the cellphone? Mike |
Sorry to break this up(Marunouchi ladies and all), but can't one use their CITI card in the convenience store ? I do........even out here in the boonies!
