need tips on Tokyo, please
 

Ok, Toxagirl and me will spend "3 perfect days" in Tokyo this weekend. One will be Disneyland, so I need your ideas for the other two.

Things I want to see:

- 2 or 3 major malls (specially toys and fashion accessories for kids/teens);

- electronics (specially Sony computers);

- porn (all that japanese style pervertions);

- good food (the real thing, not UA's Obento);

- nightlife district;

- anything else that's worth!

What fun! I highly recommend dragging yourselves out of bed early and going to see the Tsukiji fish market. You'll see amazing enormous tuna and other fish, and if you get there early enough, you can watch the tuna auction. If you're a sushi fan, head to one of the sushi places right next to the fish market for a little breakfast sushi. It's truly some of the freshest fish you'll find anywhere in the world.

You can hit Shinjuku for nightlife, electronics and perversion, all in one area! Shinjuku has a big shopping mall across from Shinjuku train station, an electronics area and the red light district. There's also an amazing tempura bar that Mr. Buster and I ate at in Shinjuku...when I get home I'll post the name and address. It was really cheap too, which is great. They fry up the tempura right in front of you, and when they do tempura shrimp, they kill the shrimp in front of you and batter and fry it up, so you know it's fresh.

I recommend getting Time Out's guide to Tokyo if you can find it. You probably don't need a full-blown travel guide, so Time Out ought to be all you need.

Loads and loads of food, electronics, Pachinko and other excellent ways of spending a night...

The fish market early (4:30am) is a must - when you get there (just say three times you will wake up!)...keep walking deeper into the market - where the auctions take place around 5:30. It really is amazing.

Check out the Sony Building in the Ginza district (Harumi-dori I believe) for the latest and most dazzling consumer electronics products before they hit the Japanese market.

Toxa, the tempura restaurant is Tsunahachi. Address is 3-31-8 Shinjuku, station: Shinjuku Sanchome (2 minutes away) or Shinjuku (east exit, 5 minutes away). It's off Shinjuku Dori on the side street that runs along the east side of Mitsukoshi department store. I seem to recall that I exited the station into the Mitsukoshi and the restaurant was right outside. I will ask Mr. Buster for better directions.

After two days in Tokyo, you'll be thirsting for an all-American Starbucks. Not to worry. Seems like Starbucks is on every block.

I went there as well (in May). It's in the Time Out and Lonely Planet guides, so I'm sure they're used to "Western" customers- I wouldn't have guessed it, though, from the clientele the day I was there.

You take an elevator down to the dining room. The Tempura was great, and I had a great conversation with an older Japanese man who had lived in Spain for 25 years. Re: Starbucks- the Starbucks in Japan look cheaper than those in NY. But a "venti" (XL) coffee in Japan is about the size of a small coffee in the States.
