Haneda Priority Pass lounges
Had an early flight today and decided to check out both of the lounge options in T3.
Between 1 and 5 AM, PP holders can use the TIAT Lounge above the duty-free shops right after immigration. It has a nice view of the apron and Tokyo skyline (similar to the airline-operated lounges), has a shower, and has a smoking room with the same view. However, it is quite small. There were only a few people there when I arrived around 4:30 but it quickly filled up by around 5, largely with Australians who were presumably catching the morning QF flight to SYD; there were still seats here and there, but the small buffet area was mobbed with families and hard to get around. You can easily see why PP restricts access. Sky Lounge South is the other option, and the only 24-hour option. It is by gate 108, which will be a bit of a hike unless your flight is leaving from that end of the terminal. It’s downstairs from the departures floor facing the landside of the terminal, so there is no view. Also, for some reason, the power outlets at some seats were inoperative and covered with stickers, so you could only charge if sitting at a table. Setting those drawbacks aside, it’s pretty nice. Quite new, way less crowded (probably due to location), and the F&B offering is similar to TIAT and the various business class lounge options at HND (draft beer, liquor, soft drinks, onigiri, curry rice, stir-fried vegetables, sandwiches, instant noodles, etc.) As a place to sit and have a snack and drink, I think I may even like it more than the busier ANA Lounge upstairs. |
I have a different opinion and think the lounge at gate 108 is pretty meh. Both times I've been have been in the evening, before the departure of the ~9pm Hawaii flights. The lounge was quite crowded at these times. If you want a shower, good luck, the wait was several hours long. And the toilet facilities were filthy by Japanese standards. I think the most depressing thing is the lack of windows.
I've never been able to get into the TIAT lounge using PP because I've never been at Haneda between 1-5am... |
I’ve had fine experiences at the HND T3 PP lounges. Nothing amazing but not awful. The HND domestic ones, on the other hand… some of the worst lounges in the PP network. Always crowded and the only amenity is a drink machine, though the views are good. It makes sense, since these lounges only cost around 1300 yen to enter if you wanted to pay, but it really devalues PP for those living in Japan.
