Takkyubin question

I've never used Yamato etc in Japan. Help me get this straight. If I'm leaving Yokohama on one day, going to Tokyo and flying out of NRT the next, can I drop the bulk of my things with Yamato at Minato Mirai and have it waiting for me at NRT? Do I have that right?

Takkyubin to airports is a little different than sending to locations throughout Japan. For shipping to Narita airport, luggage needs to be shipped two days prior, not the day before.

You need to be mindful of deadlines for airport delivery and if you're in Tokyo/Osaka, sending to Okinawa or Hokkaido as they're often 2+ days and have drop off time cutoffs https://www.kuronekoyamato.co.jp/ytc...vices/airport/. Airporter https://airporter.co.jp/en/ might also be an option for you if you have a later flight - recent-ish review in thread https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/japa...bin-query.html

Many business hotels will also help accept takkyubin which may save the effort of taking your bags to Minato Mirai. Just ask the front desk when you check in and what the cutoff times are for airport delivery. Mornings around breakfast time to checkout can be a bit busy for the front desk so plan accordingly as they'll need to measure your bag(s), ask contents, check waybill, calculate fees, and process payment (sometimes cash only). Kuroneko will pick up your bag from the hotel in Yokohama.

If you use Kuroneko shipping office, bring cash just in case they don't take credit cards. You can always spend it in Yokohama, Tokyo, and NRT or load it on physical suica to pay for transit/spend it down.

I was surprised haneda had an old school non digital luggage scale while Japan has crazy digital toilets

Thanks. I'm staying at Route Inn in Yokohama and then heading back into town for the last night, with my NRT flight at 5 p.m. the following day.

Worst case, you know, I have no trouble schlepping all my things.
