Mt Fuji Luxury Accommodations

We are taking a walking trip in Japan next May, and at the end of the trip we'd like to spend a day relaxing in the Mt Fuji area. Can anyone recommend a really nice place to stay with an open air onsen with a view of Mt Fuji. Private bath in the room is not necessary. Thanks

You might consider an onsen in Hakone or Kawaguchi-ko. The deluxe onsen review thread pinned at the top of this forum has recommendations in both locations. Both recommendations are for FuFu properties. I don't know if the authors have any relationship with FuFu or the other properties that they reviewed. Needless to say, other deluxe properties exist. (Open the thread and do a word search for "hakone" or "kawaguchi").

Ikyu is a good site to search for luxury onsen if you can cope with a japanese interface.

One that I know is Fufu Kawaguchko.

One reminder about the view of the Mt. Fuji. The survey showed that Mt. Fuji can be viewed only about 30% of the time. Most of the time Mt. Fuji is covered by the cloud. I just don't want you to be disappointed after paying for the luxury price and there was no view of Mt. Fuji.

We stayed at Mizno Hotel. 3 star BUT really beautiful, 4.7 Google reviews, 5.0 Tripadvisor. Open air bath (not onsen). And a view on Mt. Fuji! In the morning you will see it from your balcony. And there is a rooftop sitting area.

Actually in the morning is the best chance to see Mt Fuji! I would say 80%.

Overall we enjoyed FuFu Kawaguchiko when we visited Mt. Fuji last year. It was fortunately visible during our trip though clearer on some days than on others. Mornings were the best time.

The most amazing view I've ever had of Mt Fuji is on the second half of the Hakone ropeway in on a clear day in the direction from Gora (between Owakudani and Togendai). So maybe the Hakone area is indeed a good choice.

The consensus seems to be FuFu Kawaguchiko. It looks fabulous. Thanks all.
