Ordering from Yodobashi / Bic Camera Ahead of Trip

Does anyone know if you can order back order items from Yodobashi / Bic Camera from abroad with the view to collecting during your trip?

Yes, you should be able to do that both at Yodobashi and Bic Camera. On their online order there should be option of "店舗受け取り" and you choose which store you want to pick up the item. Yodobashi says that items need to be picked up within 7 days after the email notification has been sent for arrival of items at the store. Bic Camera says that items have to be picked up within 14 days.

Many thanks.

Would you get, if eligible, the tax free price ordering online before arrival? I'd guess not since they need to see the entry stamp to apply the discount.

You would get the VAT inclusive price when placing a 取り置き order. At the pick up/checkout counter (usually the same unless it’s a huge store), just let the cashier know that you are eligible for tax free shopping and show them your documents. The price will then be adjusted to VAT exclusive.

Also double check the price when you pay to make sure you are paying the same price as indicated on your 取り置き notification email.
