Would you buy a SUICA card for 6,600 yen?
To celebrate Disney's 100th anniversary, JR East is colleborating with Disney (Japan) to release limited editions of SUICA cards for 6,600 yen or 16,500 yen for 1 card, or 33,000 yen for a set of 6 cards based on this Disney Shopping news.
There are three versions:

Railways companies in Japan, including JR companies, used to sell a lot of commemorative tickets called Kinen Kippu Kinenn Kippu was very popular and it was a primary collector's item, not many people actually used Kinenn Kippu for transport. I think this Diseny themed SUICA card is on the same line as the Kinen Kippu. I think JR East is expecting many will buy this SUICA card as a commemorative/collector item.

From the shopping page notes/disclaimers I roughly translated below, one might not even be able to transfer to Appple Wallet. And even if it can, Apple / JR East might not have a special design that will show up on Mobile SUICA / Apple Wallet like one typically gets with credit cards on Apple Pay that matches the physical cards.
For instance, PASMO is running special campign for mobile PASMO where you can get different designed mobile PASMO card (see https://www.pasmo.co.jp/collabo_art/). I used mobile PASMO app to get the 2nd special design and that design shows up on the mobile PASMO app BUT Apple Wallet just shows a regular PASMO card and not the special design one.
Translation Notes:
Disney 100 commemorative SUICA is different from regular SUICA card
No deposit fee collected
No deposit (i.e., no charge) on the card
The card expires at end of June 2024
Left over amount on the card expires at end of expiration date with no way to continue using it or getting a refund
No refund will be given (assuming the amount on the card)
Lost or stolen card will not be re-issued
Cannot be used to purchase monthly pass or change to a registered SUICA card (i.e., named SUICA card)
Cannot specify the ID number of the commomerative SUICA card (I think that means one might not be able to find the card ID number for SmartEx registration for shinkansen?)
Cannot be changed for kid SUICA (i.e., SUICA for discount fares for kids/elderlies)

In attempt to see what migh happen if I remove my special design mobile PASMO card from my iPhone and re-add it, I actually lost my special designed mobile PASMO card and ended up with a normal mobile PASMO card as shown in the PASMO app. Still have the same amount on the card but it's a different card (probably different card #, I didn't pay attention). I should have created a registered / named one instead. Oh well.

Actually there's a link to the full rules or ToS (https://www.jreast.co.jp/suicaall/rule/d100suica.html) as applied to Disney 100 commomerative SUICA card and it basically follows the Welcome SUICA rules except where the rules are changed specifically for Disney 100 commomerative SUICA card, so it's a variant of Welcome SUICA after all.

A lot of Suica users are commuters which uses commuter pass, and that requires imprinting the Suica card. I doubt anyone will use a limited edition card for that.
