HND Arrival - Jpn National w/ Non-National

Hi Everyone! My wife, who is Japanese passport holder, and myself, Canadian passport holder, will be arriving into HND Friday afternoon from Toronto and I was wondering if I need to clear immigration separately or do I go with her as I am travelling with her. Also, if I use the e-gates can I still get a passport sticker as I will be doing tax-free shopping while I am there. Actually, A LOT of tax free shopping

Any information would be appreciated.

Mods; if this should be in another thread please move accordingily

She will use the Japanese citizen gates -- and you will use the foreign nationals line... You are not allowed to accompany her via the Japanese line - sorry. Upside is while you are waiting she gets to collect your checked bags and once you are through out the door you go! As you may have guessed -- the foreign lines are usually much longer and slower than the Japanese citizen line. The only way for you to use e-gates AFAIK is if you are a TTP pass holder, which I am assuming you are not... Upon departure -- you will be able to use the e-gates...

Or it might not be that much difference in waiting time, all depends.
We had to split up for the same reason a month ago and the process was extremely swift. We were all through before any of the luggage from our flight made it to the carousel.
My passport was then kept very active at tax free counters, I don’t remember anyone seeking out the stamps in the passport, only the main data page was used.

Update! She got through maybe 2-3 minutes before me and surprisingly for HND the bags took awhile to come out but the icing on the cake was Air Canada lost one of our two bags. Both of us got stamps/stickers in our passports and the couple times we have done tax free shopping they scanned the stamp code.
LapLap and uanj like this.
