Typhoon 7 forecast to hit main Japan

Looks like it will arrive early next week. Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya general area. Shinkansen and other transportation will likely be affected.

Been watching it closely. We arrive into HND tomorrow afternoon, leave on Wednesday mid-day. My guess is that it's going to be wet in Tokyo, but not necessarily be affected in terms of transportation and such. Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto, that's a different matter...

Lots of obon travelers bound to be affected. We live in Kansai, but fortunately have a flexible schedule the next several days.

I reckon Tokyo-area trains will be affected. Of course, there are a few lines heading west/southwest (Tokaido mainline and shinkansen), and some other private rail lines.

And here's a photo I snapped on the Sobu line on the way home:

Not that it's useful, since it mentions nothing of delays or cancellations on the Hachikō line.

Anyway, the forecast mentions rain in the Tokyo metro from tomorrow (Sunday) early afternoon through Tuesday at some point.

Tokaido Shinkansen trains will be cancelled between Shin Osaka and Nagoya throughout Tuesday (15th Aug)

The route between Nagoya and Tokyo will probably also be affected.

(seen on News on main NHK terrestrial channel)

Should make the return rush on the 16th to Tokyo/Nagoya.Osaka all the more tedious. (Can it get more tedious ?)

The shinkansen between Shin-osaka and Okayama as well as the vast majority of all other trains in Kansai are canceled as well. A few of the busiest lines and some of the private railways will still have limited local service but those could be cancelled as well depending on conditions.

There are routes that might be in operation tomorrow that have cancelled all reserved seating.

update - no shinkansen at all between Okayama and Nagoya tomorrow.

So far, Tokyo weather has been unsettled, cloudy with sporadic rains, sometimes vicious ones. But everything is running normally. Tomorrow Tuesday should be possibly worse, but not the end of the world. But heading in/out West has not been a fun ride for many.
