Exit HND from airside during transfer
 

I have a long 16 hours layover coming up at HND next week and was wondering if I can proceed through transfers instead of exiting at arrival in the morning to use the shower at the lounge and then exit from airside once things start opening up.

I would assume there must be ways to exit as people have things come up but just wanted to confirm if anyone has tried or know about it so I don't get stuck airside.

From what I have read here on FT, it will likely be awkward as you will need to find someone to escort to immigration from the international lounge area in the departures area so that you can pass immigration to enter japan.

Have not read of many experiences of people trying this.

Are you transferring International to International or to a Domestic flight?

If it's to a Domestic you need to actually enter Japan at Haneda (Health, Immigration, Customs).

If you're going International then as TBS says you'll need some help getting out. Usually the Lounge staff can help but you'll need to make sure that you've got all of your QR codes (or Blue Quarantine screen) ready since you'll need to arrive and depart Japan. They can also make sure that you've got the right boarding pass so you can just head straight to Security and Immigration on the way back in and bypass the check in desk.

It is international to international. I've already got the QR codes and it's the same ticket so I should already have the boarding pass as well as the luggage should be checked through too.

Thanks for the info, I will try to find more but otherwise probably decide once I get there if I should just leave right away or risk with the transfer.

You can exit and then take a shower. There’s a pay shower to the left of the exit from customs next to Tully’s coffee. An arriving JAL J boarding pass used to get you a free shower, not sure if it’s still the case. It doesn’t cost very much in any case.

Just exit normally take a shower and head into town.

alternatively there is a 24 hr sento inthe hotel villa Fontaine connected by walkway to the international terminal, more expensive but you get to have a bath as well.

Actually thinking about it now, it's probably best to not risk and just shower outside. Thanks!
