I ran into a problem when trying to input data to mySOS - turns out if you download it from play store (android) it is an old version and has all sorts of info about quarantine - when I finally found a more current version (had to find it froma QR online) it actually worked - but set aside a good half hour or more - it's tedious and lots of steps, info input, has to verify before you can go to next step, etc.
Also it will not be used for entry after Nov. 14 - there's a website that will be used then - there is a popup on the app that says so as well as info online.

Definitely use the web version of MySOS first then download the app after you're blue. You can just log in to the app then and it's sorted. Much smoother.

If your arrival date is on and after November 14th,
please use Visit Japan Web (available from November 1st).

https://www.digital.go.jp/en/service..._japan_web-en/

Does this mean there is no need of MySOS anymore?

I just went through the registration and it's basically a replacement for the disembarkation cards (customs/immigration) handed to you on the airplane prior to landing. You complete the registration, and it gives you a QR code for immigration/customs to scan with all the details that you'd normally handwrite on the cards.

So, unless they are either getting rid of the vax/test requirement by 11/14 (unlikely), or they are coming out with a new app in the next few weeks that combines them (possible), then you still need to use both.

EDIT: I was just told that after 11/14 this will replace MySOS completely, but the new version with vaccine info will be available after 11/1.

You will still be asked for a disembarkation card IME
Would be interested to hear if anyone was able to successfully forego the card after submitting their info online

That would be redundant since it has the same info as both cards we typically fill out. Hopefully with the new version coming next month that combines fast track quarantine data with the Visit Japan Web gets rid of that requirement.

Agreed. I was still told to fill one out though

There is no identifying information on the MySOS "blue screen" so I wonder what's to stop someone from taking a screenshot and using it over and over at immigration.

Actually there is if you scroll down after hitting a button - just checked in and they had to see many scrolls down screenshot alone doesn't work

From some of the other threads, at the quarantine check prior to immigration, they ask to see the screen on your phone and then those with a blue screen get sent to a desk to have their QR code scanned. The QR code I assume links to your information when they scan it.
