Business Class to Tokyo?
 

My wife and I are looking at traveling to Japan in May/June of 2022 for a couple of weeks. We are starting to see some flights from either AUS, DFW or IAH to Tokyo for $3500-4000 each RT on various airlines. Would these be considered a good deal now or would waiting for something lower be even better? We've flown business class to Europe before and understand that market, but we just aren't sure what a good price is flying business class to Asia.

Cheapest seasonal fares for May/June are available from around $3250 roundtrip with early to mid-May departures. These require a 14-day minimum stay. For shorter stays, you can find fares from about $3300 - $3400. It's unlikely you will see fares lower than this price point. The cheapest fares require Sun-Wed departures and Tue-Fri returns with a 7-day minimum stay. For example, May 10th - 20th is $3364 roundtrip. For travel other days of the week (like Saturday departures and returns), the $3600 price point is probably the lowest you will see. All these fares have a 90-day advance purchase requirement which means they would need to be booked by mid-February for mid-May travel.

Google flights has a good historical estimator. Pick any city pair (even multiple city pair) and dates, business class, select a flight, tells you typically goes for 1350-7400 and $3300 is typical (where did 1350 come from, I'd like to buy that)

Of course covid uncertainty and other factors can mess up this pricing


June might be too early to check (airlines usually open up booking 300-360 days ahead)
