That's really too bad. People in Naha must be very sad.
I hope no one was hurt.
I was there last year but was too cheap to pay the admission fee to enter the main castle wing which is now burnt-down.
Even with the castle gone, I still encourage people to take the monorail ride to Shuri.
On a sunny day, it feels like you're floating in the sky above the city of Naha.

This is the fifth time that the Shuri Castle area has burned down. Thrice in olden times, by US forces during WWII, and now.
Almost all building plans were destroyed during the war, so the restoration was also a painstaking research project. Started in 1989, the main hall was completed in 1992, but the totality of restoration was only said to be completed this January.
And now, they will begin again.

Police ruled out arson.

I was watching HK Cable news the other night and they mentioned workers placed lighting equipment right before the fire. However, I can't find any article that back up the same claim. If it's lighting equipment, not going to take much to set a rag on fire since the lights takes awhile to cool down.
