I expect you'll find space somewhere in the park. You may even find that a group invites you to join them. Hanami makes some people unusually sociable. Whether that's good or bad is another question.

EDIT: Enoteca's Marunouchi store has a Billecart Salmon tasting in late March, so I guess there's a good chance you'll find it in the Kichijoji store.

Does anyone know whether Higashiya Goen (Imperial Palace East Gardens) will be open on Mondays during Sakura Festival?

I understand that it's regularly closed every Monday and Friday, but it seems that many such closures are waived during cherry blossom time.

I am pretty certain that the boat pier at Chidorigafuchi is sometimes closed on Mondays as well, but it seems to be operating full-time and for extended hours for sakura season.

Can anyone please confirm re. Higashiya Goen?

Thanks!

Try Google translate on this page - It states that the gardens are closed on Mondays unless Monday coincides with a national holiday.
????? - ???

Same info in English on the JNTO site

Thanks, I stumbled on that myself but wasn't clear on the holiday status with Google translation as it can be a bit wonky. Thanks for clarifying though!

Seems that the best place to see a Sakura lined riverbank (approx 2km) from a boat in Tokyo is the Oyoko River (Oyoko gawa)

Tours are available for about 2,000yen
