JPN TAXI (new taxi model)

Toyota has introduced a new car specifically for taxi industry in Japan, JPN TAXI. It is now on sale. Is this what taxi will look like in Japan?

Nowhere near enough space to roll a wheelchair into that

This web page on JPN TAXI does show pictures that the passenger seat folds back and there is enough space for one wheel chair.

I am sure there are different size and shape of wheel chairs that not all wheel chairs will fit in, but looks as it is designed to fit some wheel chair.

But why would you want to copy that one? I love the Toyota comfort taxis. Plenty of space (though probably not for wheelchair users).

Pax door opens the wrong way for most every taxi stand I can think of here.

Probably for the wheelchair accessibility since Japan is a rapidly ageing population?

I like the Toyota Crown/Comfort too. They were the quinessential model for all taxis in Singapore just 5-10 years ago.

Trunk space looks very small. Crown can easily fit 2 large suitcases side by side with plenty of room to spare. On the other hand, this taxi should be compatible with passengers who have long torso and large head.

How so? Looks like doors on both sides can slide backwards like a minivan.

ETA: only the left side door slides, right side passenger door swings open conventionally.

That would be fine then. I thought I saw it as the left door opening like a suicide door, i.e. hinged at the back. Maybe I am unhinged

They're still the standard taxi in Hong Kong. I wonder if Toyota can continue making these with a hybrid drivetrain?

I saw a sample on display at Venus Fort yesterday. It looks a lot like a scaled-down London black cab.
