Looked on Amextravel's website as was considering booking a room in Tokyo and using up my $200 Amex Platinum credit (this is from the Canadian Amex site)

Put in Tokyo as the city and got 222 of 222 results displayed.

My first thought was that's a pretty decent number of hotels to choose from in Tokyo. Imagine my surprise when I looked at some of the addresses listed under Tokyo.

Man, does anyone at AMEX or in their programming department have any knowledge of Japan? I can see a few surprised tourist flying into Tokyo only to find their hotel is, umm, actually in Yamagata, Nagano, Tottori or similar.

If people are so dumb and also cheap (to not use a travel agent given their own lack of geographic knowledge, trip planning skill... ), serve them right.

I just tried it and all locations were in Tokyo.

I was using the American Express travel Canadian website. Perhaps the US one is different
