voice calling and texting in japan with USA sim

hello;
i will be needing to call 2 numbers "in case i get lost " to meet up with friends in tokyo.
i wil get lost, thats a given, so as usual i turn to my fellow flyer talkers for the correct info.
dialing the following numbers while in japan from my t- mobile sim enabled i phone:

mobile- +81 (0) 80 41xx-xxxx
i plan on texting as well as voice calling.

fixed-
+8136856xxxx
just calling the above to ask directions "in case i get lost":)

what do i leave out when calling internally?
i will be only in the tokyo area.

thanks everyone

You don't have to change anything. Think of the format +<country code> <phone number without leading zero> as an absolute number that can be called from anywhere in the world.

hmmm I don't think you need the (0) in front of 80 after 81. that 0 is for telling them its a different area code which is not needed when the (81) from int'l is used.

to save costs I would use a public phone, in which case you do need the (0) to make it a domestic call

iirc if dialing from international, 81 for country code, then area code, without zero.

If your phone's "Dial assist" feature is turned on and the phone numbers are entered right, you don't have to do anything. The phone will automatically dial correctly.
