Pokémon Go

There is information going around the media that Pokémon Go app will be available for download in Japan on July 20. However, public relations of Nintendo is neither denying nor confirming the launch date of Pokémon Go in Japan.

Pokemon Pending?

It's just a matter of time. Trouble is the server resources.

pdxkankuu Jul 19, 2016 10:31 am

I would be kinda surprised if they fully launched elsewhere that soon. There are still too many problems just with current resource usage. >.>

Pokémon Go was not launched in Japan on July 20. On July 20 stock of Nintendo dropped 12.1%. McDonald’s Japan has announced that there will be some kind of collaboration when Pokémon Go is released in Japan, such that certain characters will be available at McDonald’s restaurants or some promotional items related to Pokémon Go will be available at McDonald’s. However, Nintendo is saying that such information is not released by Nintendo, kind of saying no comment.

Some sources are saying that server issues are one of items working on before releasing Pokémon Go in Japan. However, Nintendo is also concerned about other stuff. After release of Pokémon Go in the U.S. there have been inappropriate actions/situations reported concerning Pokémon Go players. Such as people not paying attention when walking around playing Pokémon Go, playing at memorial places or museums, walking into a private property, etc.

In the U.S. such actions are considered ignorance and fault of players. However, Nintendo thinks in Japan such actions will be partly blamed on Nintendo for releasing such game to public. Nintendo is concerned about negative impact on Nintendo if such actions were reported by media in Japan. Some are reporting that app makers are working regarding such situations before releasing Pokémon Go in Japan.

all this over a game...but then again, i worry about the first person that gets shot dead on property where a person in the US has such right....i really do....since when it comes to phones and games, the amount of stupid people that continue to check their phones when driving lead me to believe that people will do stupid things and will end up in very bad situations....perhaps Nintendo is being .....scoff.....responsible?

^ I just witnessed my first accident with injury today caused by morons playing this silly game. I will be involved in the legal proceedings because I was the only witness and the woman was really hurt, so I had to call 911 and get involved. Since I am a sole proprietor, this will be a horrendous, money-losing, time-suck for me. I hope Nintendo gets sued into oblivion!

I just saw this video when I got online to research this stupid craze:

We have also seen incidences here in the US of players being attacked, injured and robbed by crooks lying in wait at secluded locations for players who are drawn there thru the game. This is a very real concern for local police.

I have nothing against time-wasting computer/phone games but feel pretty strongly that they should not be played in public. Don't involve the rest of the populace by wandering around virtually aimlessly and unaware of surroundings. There are already too many clueless and completely absorbed idiots out there, walking or driving, with their nose stuck in a phone. Those numbers seem to have gone up exponentially with each new phone game craze.

Bah! I guess I am turning into a crabby old fart. I may also have taken this thread off topic. Sorry.

People worldwide are already no longer looking at where they're walking due to Smart Phones. After this, it will get even worse. It's really crazy how people cross the road without looking at cars.

In the end, it's the fault of the individual, he treasures his phone more than his life.

Because, of course suing a game company is the right course of action when the fault clearly lies with the individual[s] involved. Because... 'murica?

Should we sue any manufacturer who sells a product that can be misused? Or should we only sue manufacturers when they sell a product we personally don't like?

Clueless, unaware people have always been around, and things like cell phones and video games have done nothing to increase that number. They've just become more visible.

But I shouldn't be allowed to play because other people are clueless and unaware? Does that mean I shouldn't be allowed to drive because other people are poor drivers? And I shouldn't be allowed to drink alcohol because other people do so irresponsibly?

Let's keep gamers indoors! Away from parks and fresh air and the outdoors and other human beings! Huzzah!

No, but it does mean that you should not be driving while playing Pokemon-go. Not that I think you would but many are. No, I don't think your driving should be restricted - except it already is. Because of the irresponsible people of the world, your "rights" to drive while drinking are curtailed. Society has to place limits that, unfortunately, restrict the responsible people along with the irresponsible.

No, gamers should not be restricted to indoors. But, they should be restricted in their gaming to appropriate places. You might not play a game inside Arlington NC but many have been. There has to be some sanity. I don't have a problem with security tossing Pokemon-goers right out on their tushes if they do stupid things.
