Narita Lounge Access

Hi guys,

If I have an award economy ticket (bought with AA miles) from Narita Airport to JFK, my Citi Prestige and Amex Plat, leaving from terminal 2 - is there any lounge that I can access other then the Priority Pass ones?

Flying Japan Airlines

Looking to try and see if I can get in to American Airlines Admirals Lounge or Sakura Lounge.

I am reading JALs website and it's kind of not clear.

Do you have a frequent flyer program status, such as Platinum or Executive Platinum on AAdvantage program? If you have Sapphire or Emerald status on OneWorld airline frequent flyer program then you can enter Admirals Club, Sakura Lounge, Cathay Business Lounge, and Qantas Lounge at NRT Terminal 2.

If you do not have an elite status by frequent flyers program, then you have to look into Citi Prestige and Amex Plat card benefits. For credit card benefits, you have to look at your credit card benefits regarding airport lounge access. Airlines will not provide access information based on credit card benefits. Call your credit card company and ask about any airport lounge access benefit.

Saw that you posted the same question at JAL forum. Double post is prohibited on FlyerTalk... Good luck.

Without status you will be unable to enter either of those lounges on an economy ticket

AMEX Plat comes with priority pass which lets you use TEI or IASS Lounge in Terminal 2, assuming you are flying AA/JL.

1) they are land side, on the top floors of the terminal
2) zero or 1 free alcoholic drink, no food, seating could be considered worse than in the free public area

I'm not very familiar with OneWorld, but I just saw that AA has 30day Admirals Club pass for only $99 USD and this entitles you to bring in immediate family members or up to 2 guests for free. For someone who only wants lounge access for a single vacation, that is very generous compared to UA which only offers a $59 one-time pass with no guest allowance.

I am AA platinum. Economy ticket. Flying PUS-NRT on JAL and then on to LAX on AA. I would like to shower when I arrive at Narita, but also wander over to T1 (if it's not a crazy hassle - I recall doing this a couple years ago but don't remember for sure) for gift shop souvenir shopping during my 5 hour layover.

1) Is it possible to enter more than one lounge during a single layover?
2) Is it possible to enter, leave, then enter again, to the same lounge?

You will arrive at Terminal 2 of NRT and depart Terminal 2 of NRT. If you want to stay within gate/transit area then you need a boarding pass or an itinerary showing that you are departing a flight from Terminal 1 to get on a terminal transfer bus to Terminal 1. There have been reported cases where a passenger were able to transfer between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 gate side without showing such documents, but those are more of exception than norm. I will not count on that.

If you want to go to Terminal 1 then you have to go through customs and immigration at Terminal 2 and come out on land side, then take an intra-terminal bus to Terminal 1. Obviously, you will have access to only land side facilities at Terminal 1, you will not have access to post passport control area (gate area) of Terminal 1. I think this is perfectly doable on 5 hours transit. I just want to make sure you hold a passport which allows visa waiver entry to Japan. If not you will need Japanese visa to do this.

As for lounge access, as AA platinum you will have access to Admirals Club, JAL Sakura Lounge, Cathay Business Class Lounge and Qantas Lounge at Terminal 2 of NRT. Yes, you can enter any lounge you wish, more than one lounge. I have done lounge hopping at Terminal 2 before.

Admirals Club and Sakura Lounge have shower. And, yes, you can enter more than once. You can come and go, and come in again as you wish.

JAL Sakura Lounge upstairs dining area has best dining option out of all. Very limited but some dim sum selections at Cathay Business Class Lounge. Australian wine and newspaper at Qantas Lounge. What about Admirals Club at NRT…, it is a nice lounge, no complaint at all. Is there something unique about Admirals Club at NRT? No, but Admirals Club at NRT is nicer than the U.S. domestic Admirals Clubs.

Hi, I have a somewhat different situation. I'm flying a business award ticket to NRT (using aa miles, but the plane is JAL), then leaving for DFW on a paid economy 6 hrs later (same day, with AA). my question is, will I be able to use any lounge? I don't have any elite status at the moment. I dont mind purchasing the one day pass for admirals club, but would much prefer access to sakura lounge.

Thanks,
Chip

No lounge access. OW lounges are departure-only otherwise designated as an arrivals facility. Your departing Y ticket on AA does not grant access.
