Tokyo - commercial art galleries

I'm planning a visit to Tokyo this month and would like to explore some commercial art galleries, especially ones that support emerging Japanese artists (and possibly purchase some works). I've found information about museums of course, but I'm finding it harder to access information about the commercial galleries. Any recommendations of commercial spaces with interesting exhibitions on this month, or that have a good stock room?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.:)

There are some galleries that carry the existing brand name artists popular with foreigners/tourists, newer artists are a little tricky. You might try the Tollman gallery and get them to point you in the right direction.

Here are some interesting contemporary art galleries to get you started.

Also it's definitely worth checking out the Tokyo Art Fair if it happens to coincide with your visit.

Tobaimo is an emerging Japanese artist whose first USA show will be later this year. Currently there is a Tabaimo show on at Gallery Koyanagi in Giinza.

Not exactly emerging artists: There is a Hiroshi Sugimoto show currently on somewhere in Tokyo and there are several small stalls run by Takashi Murakami in the Nakano Broadway building near Nakano station where Murakami features local artists that he feels have potential.

Ask your hotel concierge how to find these places.
