Accommodations in Sapporo

Hi all,

Any advice on accommodations at Sapporo? Looking to experience tatami or private onsen in a room.

Preferably both if possible.

Thanks.

FYI that there's no Onsen hotel within Sapporo City. Normally for Japanese Onsen hotel the closest you can get is near Otaru, much better one if at Noboribetsu (with significant travel time, at "Hell Valley" if you are going there already)

My colleague has been to http://www.otaru-kourakuen.com/ and have good comments of it, however many of their in-room onsen cannot be used in winter

Jalan.net has English interface which helps you to search for hotels with "private bathroom" (equal to in-room onsen, or look for 風呂付)

Personally I have tried 登別温泉郷 滝乃家 http://www.takinoya.co.jp/ and it's one of the top 100th onsen hotel

Jouzankei is an onsen village an hour from Sapporo Station by bus and is located within Sapporo city limits. You didn't mention your budget, but Suizantei Club Jozankei (翠山亭倶楽部定山渓) is a very nice ryokan with in-room onsen baths (some indoors, some outdoors depending on the room).

You might also look at some of the options discussed here.
