Not only is Chef Chin dearly departed, the branch in Rappungi where we used to go (and mjm had the pull) is also an ex-restaurant. I assume if the restaurant were still open, we'd go there. But we are bereft and lost in the desert. So if you, o dear leader, care to point us to a suitable mabo replacement (and of course make the suitable arrangement, you break it, you own it), we're sticking with pesos proactive and kind suggestion.

ETA: Although Chef Chin is no more, his restaurants have upscaled and continue: https://www.sisen.jp/shop/nihonbashi/
Not the dingy walkup with the lady who counted down to every last yen, but they still have mabo.
mjm and Q Shoe Guy like this.

I dont live in Japan any longer so Im not up to speed on mabo places. Anything that can accommodate our party is fine with me.

Is this the yakitoriya?
https://therestaurant-hiroo.com/en/shop/kakomu/
Perfect for a jet lagged FTer who arrives the night before; no need for a map, just exit the Hibya line Hiroo station and turn right at the wine shop :-)
Cheers,
-Cyborg
