A completely lame offering at Haneda airport this afternoon. Not even displaying the usual Yama / Hakushu 18 or Hibiki 21 with the standard Sold Out sign. All that was on offer was the Hibiki Master Select and it was sold out?!? I can find this at a zillion airports outside Japan.

What time did you arrive there? The bottles are usually gone by 11am.

There is tons of Yamazaki 25 and Hibiki 30 ads scattered around Haneda Airport. Those ads are nonsense, especially when you can't buy them.

I was at Haneda at 7AM for a 9AM flight, and there was no stock of Japanese whisky at airport AT ALL.

Anyone know what the situation is in Sapporo and/or New Chitose Airport? Particularly looking for Hibiki 21 LE (at the set duty free prices) and Blender's Choice.

You will find neither of those bottles at CTS.

Is Hong Kong another place you can snag a bottle home? Hibiki 21 available for HK$8,800 and Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 for HK$35,000. Not cheap, but can't found those two in Japan.

How about around town? Is availability better or worse than in Tokyo? How about prices?

Re. Hong Kong -- Japanese whisky is incredibly overpriced here. I have no idea who (if anyone!) is paying the prices that they're asking in the bottle shops around town.

There's no straight answer for this. It's like in Tokyo, stock varies day by day. At this point I am pretty convinced that every single liquor store has been checked out by locals and/or tourists and all the bargains are gone! Only way to find out the availability is to stop by in person!!

Those prices are terrible, you can definitely find these bottles in Japan for about half that cost.

HK whisky pricing is some of the worst in the world. I live there and never buy. Use Amazon Japan and ship to your hotel in Japan,
